CNC Machining Programmer

Job Description

JWF Industries is seeking a CNC Programmer to join their Johnstown, PA team. The CNC Programmer will be responsible for developing and optimizing CNC programs for machining operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of CNC machinery, programming languages, and manufacturing processes. This role involves collaborating with engineers and machinists to ensure that parts are produced accurately and efficiently.

Essential Duties

– Develop, write, and modify CNC programs based on customer drawings and specifications.
– Analyze technical drawings and specifications to determine the machining processes required.
– Conduct simulations and test runs to ensure program accuracy and efficiency.
– Collaborate with design and engineering teams to improve manufacturing processes.
– Keep up-to-date with advancements in CNC technology and programming software.

Education Level

All education/experience levels will be considered

Experience

– 5+ years of programing experience using Mastercam CAD/CAM software preferred.
– Experience in 3, 4, and 5 axis programing.
– Proficient in CNC programming languages (e.g., G-code, M-code) and CAD/CAM software.
– Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and materials.
– Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
– Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
– Previous experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Job Description

JWF Industries is a growing metal manufacturing company, continuing to expand into defense & other markets with long-term work. We are seeking Coatings Specialist to join our team; the position will be based in Johnstown, PA. This is a critical role, working closely with all levels of management, as well as the shop floor, that includes 1,000,000+ square feet of metal manufacturing space.

Responsible for providing technical guidance to ensure the highest quality Coating standards and maintaining a safe and efficient working environment. Leads all compliance activities and manages each step of JWFI’s coating processes, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and standards.  Demonstrate effective safety leadership for the health and safety of all employees and visitors.

Essential Duties

  • Responsible for the quoting process; supports the order management process by supplying required information
  • Orders and maintains all paint and shop supplies; maintains inventory levels, manages expiration dates, leads cost management of all supplies; negotiates, prices, and purchases materials
  • Implements and enforces quality control processes and procedures to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards (including military standards)
  • Writes procedures, reports, and Certificates of Compliance for all coating activities, inspections, and quality control measures
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for both internal & external audits
  • Trains production staff on quality standards and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) compliance requirements related to painting operations and disposal of hazardous waste; maintains test panels for seven (7) years
  • Design, develop, test, source and cost-justify various tools and equipment

Education Level

Post-secondary education or previous work experience in a manufacturing environment

Experience

Work requires a level of manufacturing process knowledge generally gained through formal post-secondary education or previous work experience in a manufacturing environment.  An above-average level of interpersonal/verbal/written communication skills are required to be able to work with all levels of internal employees and external customers & vendors.  Knowledge of military paint standards preferred.  Work requires occasional travel to vendor locations to resolve issues.

Our highly skilled CNC Machinists perform set up and operations, working side by side with the Quality Department to ensure exacting tolerances are held, quality parts are shipped, and on-time delivery dates are met.

CNC Machinists will need knowledge/experience reading drawings and blueprints to determine critical part information, and have experience with part inspection and related hand tools/precision measuring devices.

Job Description

Applicants will be screened against current and future hiring needs.

Experienced Welder candidates must have a minimum of three (3) years of current MIG and/or TIG welding experience in a manufacturing environment.

Fits and welds fabricated and metal components to manufacture weldments and sub-assemblies or related components using FCAW, GMAW or Aluminum processes. Work requires the ability to weld most sub-assemblies in production and fit and/or weld on most jigs for all production requirements.

Essential Duties

These weld positions will lay out, fit, and weld steel and aluminum fabricated components to manufacture weldments and sub-assemblies utilizing established welding processes:
-Welds on medium and/or large fabrications in a jig fixture
-Welds on large fabrication projects in multiple positions that may include but is not limited to overhead, flat, and/or horizontal
-Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding according to blueprints
-Properly sets up and adjusts welding machine and various equipment as needed

Education Level

Formal education/training in welding required

Experience

To be considered, candidates must have a minimum of three (3) years of current welding experience.  No entry-level needs at this time.

-Successful candidates will be certified, steel and/or aluminum qualified.
-Must be able to interpret complex blueprints & weld symbols, and fit/weld according to print (including the ability to build weldments from prints).

Essential Duties

Review project documentation for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer requirements, and related specifications.

Work requires a firm understanding of configuration management and structured Bills of Materials (Engineering BOMs and Manufacturing  BOMs).

Education Level

Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience

  • Ability to read/analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for fabrications and assemblies
  • Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD (Autodesk Inventor is preferred)
  • Ability to create work-cell layouts and material flow diagrams
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office products
  • Project Management experience is a plus; ERP system experience is a plus
